Tank mixers are a category of mixers/ blenders that can be inserted into an existing tank, vessel or intermediate bulk container (IBC). Tank mixers are generally used for mixing solutions or re-suspending settled material and maintaining blend homogeneity. Tank mixers range in size and scope of application from tank car mixers, which can blend the contents of a tank car directly in the tank car, to small portable mixers. The tank mixer must be properly designed and selected for the tank in which it will be used. A tank mixer generally consists of a motor, a frame or mounting bracket of some kind and a shaft with an impeller blade. Open and closed tank models are also available. Selection of the right tank mixer is based on: tank size, mounting options, portability needed and the need for sanitary design.
